Aspirin use increases the likelihood of a boy being born. These are the conclusions of the study, reports The Daily Mail.

Participants in the study included 1228 women who had previously had miscarriages.

All participants in the study intended to become pregnant again. Researchers asked women to take low-dose aspirin or placebo (folic acid) before sex.

According to the publication, the authors of the study speculated that miscarriages were associated with high levels of inflammation in the womb. One version was the perception by the immune system of the developing embryo as a foreign body with a corresponding aggressive reaction.

Scientists have suggested that inflammation decreases the chances of a boy being born, given that male embryos are considered more vulnerable.

The study data suggested that women who took aspirin before sex were more likely to have boys compared to participants who received a placebo (31% vs. 23%).

The tests also determined that women who took aspirin had lower levels of inflammation.
